The descent of Iron

IRON COMING FROM THE SKY WITH RAIN (HADID 25)by kurtuluş berzan

As is known, iron is an element that can form in old stars. The final state of stars is called supernova, and supernovae eventually explode due to the effect of the excess iron formed in their centers and scatter the iron throughout the galaxy. The iron in our world also came from such supernova explosions. Even the heat of our sun is not enough to create iron. Therefore, it is true that iron comes from the sky, that is, from space. In this article, I want to touch on the part of the issue related to the Earth, not the space part.

As is known, iron is necessary for life. Anemia occurs in iron deficiency, and further deficiency can end life. Iron is essential not only for the human body but also for invisible microorganisms, all plants and all animals. Life could not exist in its absence.

Some atheists, who look at the verses of the Quran with a superficial perspective and a superficial understanding of science, have written that iron is important in making weapons and that this is why the Quran says "We sent down iron from the sky." I felt ashamed of this superficial understanding of science on their behalf. Because they must be unaware of the importance of the iron cycle for life and that we carry iron not only in our weapons but also in our bodies. Then they shouldn't have reduced this iron issue so simply.

There is no other trace element that cycles through life as intensely as iron. Iron's entry into the body requires more continuity than others, and because of this continuity, it is stored in the spleen in our body. If they had at least established a logic like this, why doesn't the Quran say that we took the iron out of the ground, but rather that we brought it down from the sky? Yes, so let's talk about an important scientific fact that has been understood in the last 20 years.

The subject that scientists have frequently studied in recent years is the iron that falls on the Earth with rain. This iron falls back to the Earth when the dust created by sandstorms in the desert is carried to the clouds in aerosol form and then rains down on different parts of the Earth. Until recent times, people had not been able to adequately understand the place and importance of deserts in natural systems. Deserts were generally known as useless piles of sand and empty spaces. Now it has been determined that deserts provide plants and sea creatures with the iron necessary for the continuation of the ecosystem. (9)

The Sahara desert, which is the largest desert and therefore the largest source of dust, the Gobi, Taklamakan, Karakum, Kızılkum deserts, which were formed due to severe drought in Central Asia, and the Mexican desert on the North American continent, constitute the dust sources of the northern hemisphere (1) The largest dust source in the southern hemisphere. Effective dust sources are; The Victoria and Gibson deserts in Australia and the Kalahari (Namibia) and Atacama (Patagonia) deserts. (2) The Sahara desert emits 1.5 billion tons of dust every year. (3)

Dr. saydam  one of the first studies on this subject in Turkeye. In the October 2002 issue of Science and Technology magazine, Saydam explained how iron is carried by desert dust and distributes life to the earth, and stated the studies on desert dust as follows: The iron found in desert dust is in the Fe+3 form and is not useful for plants. However, this iron transforms into Fe+2 form within the clouds by an unknown mechanism, and in this way, it returns to the earth with rain, meeting the iron needs of plants to a significant extent. (4)

The researcher compared the iron content of the Sahara desert, Riyadh desert and Anatolian soil and reported that there are 4500 units of iron in the Sahara sand, 800 units in the Riyadh desert and 100-200 units in Anatolian soil. Later, they conducted an experiment by spraying Sahara sand on various plants and observed that Sahara sand increased the yield of some plants by up to 5 times due to its iron content.

In addition, the same researcher reported that when he applied water mixed with desert dust to cotton fields, the yield increased by 11% compared to normal and the iron content of the field increased by 300%. (4) Again, the researcher stated that phytoplankton, the first link of marine eco-life, needs intense iron, and most of this iron is found in clouds infused with desert sands. and that when these rains carry desert sand, the phytoplankton in the Black Sea increases greatly, and accordingly the anchovy fish population increases.

A study published in the journal Nature in 2014 states that desert dust is indispensable for the marine ecosystem. According to this study, 87% of the iron in the sea comes from aerosolized desert sands in the air. They emphasize that the green color on the shores, while the middle of the sea is blue, is due to this iron, and that without this desert iron, the marine ecosystem and living creatures would not be as diverse and would decrease. They even said that without this iron coming from the sand, the climate of the whole Earth would change, along with the ecosystem of the seas. (5-8)

Now think about whether this life-bringing feature of iron is a coincidence. Doesn't the fact that seemingly useless deserts distribute life to the Earth show that everything is finely arranged? Come on, if you couldn't comprehend these facts, what coincidence will you explain why the Quran says "we brought down the iron" instead of "we took out the iron from the ground" when reporting this important event? If it were you, could you use this expression that coincides with an important scientific fact? Indeed, if it were not for the desert iron raining down on us, life would perhaps not end, but according to the above research, they would be so weak that the balance of the ecosystem would collapse, and as a result, humans would not be able to live so easily. With the weakening of the ecosystem, humankind would have to struggle to survive on a very difficult Earth. What did the verse say? “… We also sent down iron, in which there is great power and benefits for people…Hadid 25”

Moreover, the fact that the iron in the Earth was brought down to the center of the earth during the initial formation of the earth miraculously explains the phenomenon of iron being brought down. As you know, this iron provides gravity, the atmosphere and the formation of the magnetosphere. Again, as is known, iron is the product of star explosions and came to Earth from very distant stars.

Briefly; Iron is brought down to the Earth's core and this iron protects the Earth from harmful rays coming from space, iron is the final product of a star explosion and comes from stars, and iron falls with rain, increasing plankton in the oceans and thus creating oxygen on the Earth. The facts make iron a blessing and show its strong connection with the revelation.by Kurtuluş Berzan

Iron catastrophe caused by supernova explosions being brought down to Earth and iron catastrophe by Prof. Dr. İbrahim Esinler

In the verse, the physical lowering of iron is mentioned. When the word lowering is used, everyone understands the bringing of something that is above to a place that is lower than a reference point. There is no doubt about this.

The source of iron in the world, where it comes from and how it comes from are now fully known thanks to modern science.

Modern science says the following;

Iron came to our Earth from space.

The iron that descended to our Earth from space later descended to the Earth's core.

Where is the source of iron in the world?

The first iron atom in the universe was formed in the nuclei of stars. When giant stars with a mass between 10 and 29 times the mass of our Sun disintegrate as a result of supernova explosions, plenty of iron is thrown into space. Iron has a very special role in the fusion reaction in the core of the star. Two forces play a very important role in the star. The gravitational force in the star's core is so strong that it prevents the star from exploding. What prevents the star from collapsing due to gravity is the energy released by the fusion reaction. The fusion reaction is when hydrogen atoms combine to form helium atoms and energy is released in the process. Helium atoms combine with hydrogen atoms to form larger atoms like a mine in the core of the star. The atomic weight of iron is 26. All elements-atoms lighter than the iron atom (such as carbon, oxygen, fluorine, sodium, calcium, potassium, nitrogen) are formed in the core of the star by a similar method. But there is a very interesting situation about the element iron. Once iron is formed in the core of the star, the iron atom cannot undergo fusion. In other words, elements larger than iron cannot be formed. When iron cannot undergo the fusion reaction, abundant iron accumulates in the core of the star. When the power of the fusion reaction decreases, the gravitational force in the core of the star overcomes the outward pushing force of the fusion reaction, and the star incredibly collapses within seconds. With the shock of this collapse, the outer parts of the star explode outwards. The collapsing star forms a neutron star consisting of neutrons. The gas and dust clouds that spread throughout space with the explosion contain plenty of iron and elements lighter than iron.

How did the iron brought down to Earth from space land in the Earth's core?

Iron catastrophe process:

As the Earth grew, its gravitational force increased, and the gravitational force caused the Earth to shrink-collapse into itself and become denser. This implosion caused the Earth to overheat. Heat also occurred as a result of radioactive decay. Excessive heat caused the mixed iron element to melt. When the melted iron element became fluid, it began to flow towards the center of the Earth due to gravity. While the heavy elements melted and flowed to the center of the Earth, the lighter elements (silicon-soil-rock) remained above and formed the upper crust of the Earth. This event is called 'Iron catastrophe'. Iron catastrophe caused the Earth to have a layered structure. In addition, the iron flowing to the center formed the core of the Earth and created the Earth's magnetic field (magnitosphere) and prevented harmful effects from the Sun

Iron catastrophe: Iron was melted into the Earth's core through a process called 'Iron catastrophe'.

Note: There are many miracles in the Hadid (Iron) sura. There are a total of 26 words of Allah from the beginning of the sura to the sentence 'And We sent down the iron'. In addition, the verse containing this sentence is the 26th verse, including the basmala. When the iron atom is mentioned, the number 26 immediately comes to mind. The atomic number of iron is 26.by Prof. Dr. İbrahim Esinler

https://www.sciencelearn.org.nz/.../1727-how-elements-are...

Those who do not want to see this miracle or want to overshadow it put forward these two arguments.

1. The word 'enzelna' 'we sent down' in the verse cannot literally mean 'we sent down'. This word is used elsewhere in the Quran in the sense of 'to bestow'. Therefore, it is necessary to understand that iron is given in this verse. There is no miracle.

2. Even if we take the word 'enzelna' literally as 'we sent down', there is a scientific error in the verse. Iron is already in the cloud of gas and dust that forms the Earth. Therefore, downloading is not possible. Also, why were no elements other than iron mentioned?

Now, with God's permission, let's answer these arguments.

Answer 1. byProf. Dr. İbrahim Esinler

(أَنزَلْنَا) The root of the word enzelna (نزل) means to descend, come down, to dismount, to fall down. Hans Wehr 4th ed., page 1122 (of 1303).

In all Arabic-English dictionaries, it is seen that the first and most commonly used meaning of the word is literally to download. In other words, it is the physical lowering of something from top to bottom relative to a reference point.

This word is used quite frequently in the Quran.

In many verses you will see below, it is used literally in the sense of downloading (descending from above to downwards). Without doubt.

Bringing down water from the sky

Bringing down the rain

Bringing down hail from clouds

Landing of Noah's ark in a fertile place

Knowing what lands on the ground and what comes out of the ground

Being taken down from their towers/fortresses

Downloading manna and quail

This word can also have other meanings.

It can mean something like bestowal, such as the sending down of the book, the sending down of the angels, the sending down of the torment, the sending down of the animals and the clothes.

Therefore, the meaning of the word can be interpreted according to the verse in which it is used. But if the passage in the verse gives the real meaning of the word, the real meaning should be preferred.

This is what happens in verse 57:25. The statement 'and we brought down the iron' is in full agreement with scientific data. The fact that iron is brought down to the Earth after being formed in supernova explosions and then brought down to the core shows that the word 'download' in the verse refers to real physical downloading. Just like water being sent down from the sky. Just like Noah's ark being lowered to the ground.

There is no obstacle to not taking the word 'lowering' in the literal meaning of 'real physical lowering from above to below' regarding the lowering of the iron in verse 57:25.

Answer 2.byProf. Dr. İbrahim Esinler

Iron and many elements formed from billions of supernova explosions spread into space. They concentrate in some places due to the effect of gravity. These condensing clouds of gas and dust are called 'nebula'. They are the places where stars are born.

Our Sun was born from such clouds of gas and dust. In our world.

When our Earth did not exist yet, very small pieces came together to form a small rock piece, and then this rock piece started to grow gradually.

When it reached a certain size, it created its own gravitational force. At this point, we can call this large body the world, the precursor of the Earth. Iron-rich rocks orbiting the Earth, which had grown sufficiently, fell (landed) under the influence of gravity and became a part of the Earth. So much iron-rich rock fell on Earth that it became larger than it is today, clearing everything in its orbit.

The process of iron landing on Earth has been completed.

The second process is the reduction of iron to the lower core. This is achieved through the 'Iron catastrophe' process.

Those who criticize ignore this very, very important process in the development of the Earth. But this process is actually very important. As the Earth warms, the molten iron is lowered into the Earth's core. This creates the Earth's magnetic field. This process is the reason why the Earth has a layered structure.

No matter how you look at it;

The iron formed in space was brought down to Earth. The iron was then lowered into the Earth's core.

Why are no other elements mentioned?

The Quran is not a chemistry book. There is no need to mention other elements. One important example is given and it is enough for those who understand. If some other elements were mentioned, one might ask why not all of them were mentioned this time. 'Doesn't God know the other elements? It will be asked, 'Did he forget?'

The benefit of the iron element to humanity is slightly more than other elements. It is one of the most beneficial elements to humanity as it melts into the Earth's core and creates a strong magnetic field. Therefore it is a very good example.

Wherever you look;

The sentence 'And we brought down the iron' is a great miracle.

Certainly the ancient Egyptians were aware of meteoritic iron, but uncomfortably for the archaeologists, the evidence suggests that by a very early date in their history they were already sophisticated enough to differentiate between different types of iron. Loadstones were called `res mehit ba', meaning `north-south iron', and Plutarch quotes Manetho as differentiating loadstones from non-magnetic iron, calling the former `Bone of Osiris', and the latter `Bone of Typhon', (being the Greek version of Set).3 Robert Temple in `The Crystal Sun', uses this to argue that the Egyptians must have been aware of the differences between magnetic and true north, imaginatively suggesting that the motif of the `crossed arrows', which occurs often in Egyptological symbolism, relates to the difference between true, and magnetic north. 4

Robert H O'Connell in 1983 translated the coffin text Spell 148, which refers to meteoritic impact as being integral to the conception of Horus. `…the blast of a meteorite such that gods fear, Isis awoke pregnant by the seed of her brother Osiris!….5 Even earlier, in 1911, Wallis Budge translated a text from the time of Pepi II (circa 2278- 2184 BC) which speaks of `the iron which came from Set, and was in the forearm of Set; it transferred to the deceased the power of the eye of Horus'.6 As the constellation of the Great Bear was considered to be the abode of Set, we can reasonably conclude that at least one iron-bearing meteorite came from this direction early in the Old Kingdom. And if we were to conclude that the ascension of Horus came about during the unification of the two lands, we would be able to postulate that this unification came about during a period of meteoritic activity.

The evidence then, seems to support the notion that the ancient Egyptians were aware of iron, and probably viewed it as a heavenly substance. And yet its association with Set makes its inclusion in the pyramid of Khufu a surprise. Petrie in the Pyramids and Temples of Gizeh, 1883, referred to the iron plate found by Hill. `…and though some doubt has been thrown upon the piece, merely from its rarity, yet the vouchers for it are very precise; and it has a cast of nummulite on the rust of it, proving it to have been buried for ages besides a block of nummulitic limestone, and therefore to be certainly ancient…'7 His language and phraseology, both implying that he was personally familiar with the piece, and providing clear evidence of its antiquity.

However, the assumption that all iron in the Old Kingdom was of meteoritic origin is frankly untenable. In 1989 a fragment was taken from the plate found by Hill, and was tested by two eminent metallurgists Jones and Gayer who concluded that it was very ancient. Significantly they stated that the metallurgical evidence supported the archaeological evidence that it was incorporated within the pyramid when it was built.8 More importantly they went on to determine that the iron was not meteoritic, had been smelted at a temperature of between 1000 and 1100 degrees centigrade, and bore traces of gold on one of the surfaces of the plate. To simply dismiss the plate as a forgery therefore is to impugn the reputation of these scientists, and yet to do otherwise is to run into a brick wall of archaeological dogma, whose mantra states that iron can only have been meteoritic at such an early stage in civilisations development.

Iron has four stable isotopes54Fe (5.845% of natural iron), 56Fe (91.754%), 57Fe (2.119%) and 58Fe (0.282%). Twenty-four artificial isotopes have also been created. Of these stable isotopes, only 57Fe has a nuclear spin (−12). The nuclide 54Fe theoretically can undergo double electron capture to 54Cr, but the process has never been observed and only a lower limit on the half-life of 3.1×1022 years has been established.[21] via wikipedia

The most common form of iron on Earth is the iron 56 isotope. The iron 57 isotope is present at 2.12%. There is something miraculous about pointing to the iron 57 isotope. The word “El Hadid” (الحديد) is the 13th word of the verse. Word 13 and verse 26 give us the ratio ½, which is the nuclear spin ratio of the iron 57 isotope. It is the only isotope with a spin ratio of (−1⁄2). The iron 57 isotope (−1⁄2) is one of the atoms least sensitive to “Nuclear Magnetic Resonance” (NMR) in the periodic table with its nuclear spin ratio by Prof. Dr. İbrahim Esinler

The word Al-Hadid is the 13th word of the 26th verse (basmala verse 1th).

26 occurrences of the word Allah:

The number of occurrences of the word Allah in Surah 57 is also very interesting. Allah is mentioned 26 times in total, including the verse where the word iron appears at the beginning of the 57th sura. And in exactly 19 verses.
The fact that the word iron is in the 26th verse of the sura (including the basmala) and that there are a total of 26 words of Allah up to and including this verse brings the number 26 to the fore, which is the atomic number of iron. It is impossible for the atomic number of iron to have been known by the Prophet Muhammad.by Prof. Dr. İbrahim Esinler

The use of the word command in verse 26 indicates the atomic number of the iron atom, which is 26. It refers to the 26 protons in its nucleus. The 57th sura contains 30 verses, when basmala is taken as verse 0. The number 30 indicates the number of neutrons in the nucleus. Thus, 26 + 30 = 56, which is the atomic weight of the most abundant isotope of the iron atom in the universe (Fe56).

The letter 'Fe', which is the symbol of the iron atom, and 'fe' 'ف'; It occurs 56 times, indicating that the atomic weight of the iron atom is 56.by Prof. Dr. İbrahim Esinler
